Of Japan, Mascots and Horses

It’s a horse, I promise you. 🙂

I live in Gunma prefecture (think like an American state) and this is our male mascot.  There is also a female, and one of their names is Yuma-chan. Usually that’s a girl’s ending, ‘chan’ but he is an animated character, so it’s possibly for him to be called ‘chan’ too.

And as you can tell, the police satation loves to use his face! He’s everywhere…in buildings, on key chains, papers, pens, etc.

Old Gunma was the breading ground for horses, when they came to Japan, so we’ve kept the image!

He’s cute, isn’t he?
