Hanami a.k.a ‘What the Radiation Has Wrought’

04 Apr

When I said I was going to put this picture up on my blog, another ALT told me to mention that this was what the radiation has done to us. It made us drink lots of alcohol. Made us look at the beautiful cherry blossoms. Made us have a great time with lots of other people. So, as a shout out to anyone who has family in the Gunma, Saitama and Tochigi areas…we’re good, no worries. 🙂

Onto a better topic…hanami. An obligation to look at the sakura and drink with friends. You can go with family, friends or co-workers, it doesn’t matter. I’ve seen fathers lifting their daughters so that they can touch the blossoms; I’ve seen Japanese children ask foreigners to play soccer with them.

This is the best season, in my mind. Sakura Season.

(by the way, Hana means flowers and Mi is to see…just to let you know).
