Taiko (the Japanese word for drum and which can be used for talking about performances) is wonderful to listen and watch. I was lucky yesterday, one of my English club students at my school in involved in her community taiko and invited me to her performance, which was in a park.

Personally, I love listening to taiko. It starts off slow, then escalates to fast, finishing with a big bang. Each group can play for 5 – 25 minutes, groups can be mixed; males, females, adults, children and outfits can change color / writing. All in all, if you ever get a chance to see a group, go for it (I’ve been told that Louisiana is a good state to check out for all of you in the U.S.)

But if you want to keep your hearing, it might be good to stay back a little.
